*HOMEWORK GUIDELINES *
Homework is the out of class tasks that a student is assigned for the purpose of practice, preparation and extension. It is an opportunity for students to learn and for parents to be involved in their children's education. A parent's interest can spark enthusiasm in a child and help teach that learning can be fun and well worth the effort.Homework can be required of all students, but the time required should differ from grade levels (Cooper 1989*).
The frequency and duration of mandatory assignments may fall within the following range:
Grades 1 - 3: No more than 15 minutes
Grades 4 - 6: 15 to 45 minutes
Grades 7 - 9: 45 to 75 minutes
Grades 10 - 12: 75 - 120 minutes
