The goals of the Career Development and Occupational Studies department is to:
* Provide students with the knowledge and skills that will provide a solid base for transition from school, including post secondary study to the workplace
* Provide students with the knowledge and skills that will help prepare them for a workplace being changed by technology and the challenges of a global economy
* Provide authentic, action-oriented activities that will raise achievement of academics through practical applications of theoretical knowledge
* Provide exposure to career options through exploration and planning, and exposure to industry-specific technical skills for those who intensify their study in career majors
* Provide the opportunity to develop a career plan, beginning at the elementary level, that will add focus and direction to their experiences as they progress through middle and secondary education

Technology Statement:
The Sherburne-Earlville Middle School Technology courses offer an adventurous introduction into the world of technology. We utilize practical problem solving skills to meet human needs and wants. In addition, students will employ the Seven Resources for technology. Finally, this course allows students to enhance their knowledge, skills, and provides ample opportunities for success through experiential activities.
